Brad’s Wife refers to the massive trolling of the social media accounts for American casual-dining chain Cracker Barrel after a man named Brad wrote a post on the Cracker Barrel Facebook page asking why his wife had been fired. It was later revealed that his wife had worked there for 11 years and was fired on his birthday, leading to massive, somewhat sarcastic support of Brad and his wife. But the similarity of logos and of products, and of the channels of distribution (and the advertising overlap) if CBOCS is allowed to sell its products through grocery stores under its Cracker Barrel logo, and the availability to the company of alternatives to grocery stores for reaching a large consumer public under the logo, provide adequate. More than 50 years ago, a Tennessee man named Dan Evins saw an unmet need. The Interstate was expanding—connecting people to new places—but people on the move couldn’t count on a consistent, quality place to stop along the way. Before Evins knew it, the idea was much bigger than him. Built by hard work, a mission of Pleasing People, strong values and Southern hospitality, the cooks, wait staff, operators and Evins Uncle Herschel McCartney—described as the “soul” of Cracker Barrel created more than a refreshing stop along one’s journey. They set an iconic American table for generations to come.
